Description

"Dalmations" Engraving Error Disney Dollars Disney World $1 2013 Rodgers R-167 Twenty-Five Consecutive Examples Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
An original sealed pack of 25 consecutive (serials D021601 to D021625) Disney World $1 notes where the label also has the misspelling of "Dalmations" error instead of the correct spelling of "Dalmatians." These 25 notes are sealed in cellophane with a cardboard backing. This is how the notes were originally delivered to the parks and stores. The grade given for the pack is based on the fact that the pack is sealed.

There were four different varieties of the $1 denomination in the Villains and Heroes 2013 Series. The Cruella De Vil (correct Disney spelling) face design has the misspelling of "Dalmations" (Dalmatians) on the back with the Pongo, Perdie, and Pepper back design. After Disney noticed the error, the remaining Cruella De Vil notes on hand were destroyed along with examples that were culled from Disney circulation. This reduced the Villains and Heroes $1 Series to a set of three. This is the first time we have offered a pack of 25 of this error note. It is reported on page 174 of Disney Numismagic The Art and Magic of Collecting Disney Currency by Teddy C. Ryan III, that this engraving error may have been one of several factors that led to the cessation of the Disney Dollar program on May 14, 2016. (Total: 25 notes)
