A small portrait of President Grover Cleveland, who had died on June 24, 1908, is the only notable adornment of the piece. The bond is overprinted with SPECIMEN at bottom center of the principal bond. Serial number on the bond and all 40 coupons attached is 000000 along with the printed signature of Register of the Treasury J(ames) C. Napier. This example has toned and has minor edge damage confined to the margin below the coupons.
