Herkimer County Bank Initial Series Proof
Little Falls, NY- Herkimer County Bank $5 18__ NY-1220 G8 SENC
Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ.Possibly a Unique Proof from the bank's initial series of unregistered demand notes. Its membership in this intriguing group of all different types from the bank someone collected for decades from several sources, confirms many Haxby listings and other diagnostic facts of this bank's rarities. In all our lengthy auctioning tenures (and that includes Gordon Harris NY sales and all the Eric Newman notes), we have handled only one obsolete from the bank and that was a note confirmed as a Haxby type already. India paper Proof, mounted upon thin yellow paper sheet, by Rawdon, Clark Albany / Rawdon, Wright & Hatch, New-York. Central vignette in square, a canal boat dragged by horses on shore; in the foreground a stream. Identical ends, girl churns butter under floral canopy. Four small POC in the India paper only. The paper mounting is later, but similar to many Proofs from this imprint family sold long ago in NASCA sales and the like. Quite elegant and sharply printed.
