Keller's Plate Note - Sole Example We Have Offered
Army of the West, MS- A.S. Bishop, Sutler 25¢ Sep. 1862 Keller
MS-SD025 Kraus 54911 PCGS Very Fine 25.Based upon the date of this note, it was probably used during the Iuka/Corinth, MS campaign. The Army of the West was made up primarily of members of the old Missouri State Guard and was under command of Sterling Price during this time period. This pleasing fully issued example, which features small vignettes of an early train and an officer on horseback, is printed on the back of fiscal documents and served as the plate note in Keller's sutler book. This is the only example that we have offered of this design.
