Army of Mississippi CSA Sutler Note

Army of Mississippi, MS- S.K. Smith, Sutler 25¢ Aug. 1862 Keller MS-SA025 Kraus 54891 PMG Choice Fine 15.
There were several iterations of the Army of Mississippi. Based on the date of August 1862 on this note issued by S.K. Smith, one of the sutlers, this was the so-called first Army of Mississippi formed in March 1862. It fought in several major engagements including Shiloh, Corinth, and Perryville (KY). This note would have been in use after the evacuation from Corinth, but before the battle of Perryville in early October 1862. The note is printed on the back of a Julius Hessee letterhead or similar document. Hessee was a commission merchant located in Mobile, AL circa 1860. PMG mentions a minor repair which appears to be a short sealed edge tear in the top margin just left of the eagle's wing.
