Jacksonville, FL- Florida Atlantic & Gulf Central Railroad Co. $2 May 1, 1858 Benice 33 PMG Very Fine 30.The railroad was organized in 1851, connecting Jacksonville with Lake City, FL. Construction was finished on March 13, 1860. Service was disrupted intermittently during the Civil War. The line went through the usual succession of mergers, purchases, and other financial maneuvers and ultimately ended up as part of CSX Transportation. PMG notes a bit of rust and a faintly penciled annotation of unknown origin and age, neither of which provide significant distractions.
