Description
Fernandina, FL- Bank of Fernandina $20 18__ G6a Benice 6 Remainder PMG Very Fine 30.The charter for this bank was approved under the provisions of the general incorporation laws rather than the state's free banking laws in early 1859. The bank moved to Starke in the Spring of 1862 when Fernandina was occupied by Union forces. The note is quite striking with a large passenger train vignette flanked by two bright red denominational end panels and served as he plate note on page 71 in Benice's Florida catalog PMG notes faint evidence of previous mounting on the back. Quite scarce.
