Very Rare State of Mississippi "Cotton Pledged" Uncut Sheet

Uncut Sheet PMG Very Fine 25.Like the previous sheet, this is a very rare item. The sheet comprises three different denominations, $2.50, $1, and $3, from the "Cotton Pledged" emission. These notes incorporate the green Cotton Pledged overprint and are dated May 1, 1862. All of the notes on the sheet are completely filled in and were ready for issue once cut from the sheet. PMG mentions some splits that have minimal impact on the notes themselves thanks to the sheet selvage, as well as toning. Shull estimated a surviving population of around 16-50 sheets in 2006. We are unaware of any developments that would change that number much. This is the only sheet comprising these Criswell numbers that we have offered in one of our public auctions. A similar sheet in slightly better condition whose notes had the blue Cotton Pledged overprint realized $2,580 almost a decade ago in 2015 at our Long Beach Expo Currency Signature Auction.
