Description

Boston, MA- Cochituate Bank $1,000 Nov. 1, 1853 G20 PCGS Very Fine 35.
The bank was chartered in 1849 and continued in business until suspending in 1854. The bank apparently had a huge over issue and thousands of notes remained unpaid. Even today, the lower denominations are quite common. The same can not be said for the $1,000. We are aware of around six to eight different examples that have made public auction appearances in recent years. Fully issued and free of repairs and meaningful impairments.
