Memorial Note for Secretary of the Treasury Manning

Fr. 315 $20 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 25.
The Series 1886 $20 silver certificate was undoubtedly authorized as a memorial of sorts for Secretary of the Treasury Daniel Manning who served as Secretary of the Treasury from 1885 until a few months before his death in December 1887. The portrait of Manning is flanked by classic allegorical figures representing Agriculture and Industry. This later release, which has a striking large brown spiked Treasury seal, was issued in the early 1890s. This note is evenly circulated and still retains good color, with no repairs or glaringly obvious condition issues. It will be a truly great addition to many type note sets.
