Description

Las Vegas, NMT - $20 1882 Date Back Fr. 555 The San Miguel NB Ch. # (W)2454
A nice Territorial example from a historic northern New Mexico community that in its heyday was one of the most important cities in the southwest. Las Vegas was the site of Stephen W. Kearny's address in 1846 claiming New Mexico for the United States, and sat astride the main line of the Santa Fe railroad, which arrived in 1880. A fair number of Territorial examples are known from this institution, making this evenly circulated specimen a likely affordable piece for the collector desiring to own just one of these important western collectibles. PCGS Very Fine 20, the only Territorial found in the Platte River Cash Hoard.
