Description
Desirable Fr. 207 Proof
Fr. 207 Hessler X129A (946) $50 1861 Interest Bearing Note Proof About New, PC. This is a most desirable proof, in that individual face and back proofs printed on India paper have been mounted on an intervening piece of card stock. There is only one issued note known of this Friedberg number, and we recently sold that note in the Taylor Family Collection auction for $172,500. The serial number is all zeros on this plate letter A proof that hearkens back to pre-BEP days of our nation's paper money. The back lower left-hand corner shows two folds, while the back upper right-hand corner tip is lightly clipped. Also, there are six small punch cancels along the signature lines of this proof that states, "Interest One Cent Per Day." An item such as this only appears when great collections are sold.Auction Info
