Description
Perhaps Finest Known 1928 $1000 Star Note
Fr. 2210-H* $1000 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Extremely Fine 45PPQ.Replacement serial number 12 graces this very attractive 1928 $1000. The margins are Gem sized and the paper is as bright as one will find for any Extremely Fine graded piece. Full paper wave and unmistakable embossing is also seen through the PCGS holder. Current census numbers put the number of 1928 $1000 Star Notes at fourteen from all twelve districts combined. To date, only five pieces have been graded by either PMG or PCGS and based on the pieces known, it is clear they all spent considerable time in circulation, with this lightly circulated and incredibly attractive Extremely Fine 45PPQ topping that list of currently known survivors. Track & Price shows just four other sales of pieces at auction in the last ten years. The last St. Louis example to sell was a Very Fine for $39,100 in the Taylor Family Collection in 2005.
