Description

LaVerne, CA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 632 The First NB Ch. # 9599
This bank issued under two different titles, as this Los Angeles County community dropped the name Lordsburg, which it had taken in 1886 to honor I.W. Lord, who had laid out the town, in favor of LaVerne in 1916. Six large notes are known with this issuing location, with this piece tracing its pedigree to the Colver collection, where it was lot 1824. Bright pen signed PCGS Very Fine 30, a premium piece offering collectors their first opportunity to obtain a large note bearing the LaVerne nomenclature since our consignor obtained this specimen seven years ago at our Horwedel collection sale.
