Description
First Ever Public Sale
Jefferson, IA - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 617 The First NB Ch. # (M)8262A truly rare Iowa note from a bank which issued Third Charter examples only before disappearing in 1925. Jefferson could well be the scarcest Iowa community which had multiple banks, as two notes are known from each of this Greene County community's two issuers. One from each institution is in the hands of the Higgins Museum, with the second note from Jefferson's other bank off the market since its last appearance in 1978 and the second note from this bank having never been available at public sale. This piece is new to the census, and is being offered to collectors for the first time. Expect some keen competition as one fortunate collector will add a new town to their collection when the hammer falls this evening. PMG Fine 12.
