Likely the Finest of Four Known
Toluca, IL - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 499 The First NB Ch. # (M)4871A superlative item which we originally sold as part of the Shaw collection in January of 2000. This is one of four notes known from this bank, which issued Brown Backs only during its brief twelve year run. Of the four notes known, two are very low grade and two high, with this example the finest. PCGS Extremely Fine 40PPQ, a wonderful combination of rarity, grade, and desirability.
