Lakeland, FL - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The Florida NB Ch. # 13370This beautiful serial number 1 note is from one of the few national banks in the nation that had a dual officer holder for cashier and president. In this case it was J.W. Gressing. National Bank laws did not forbid this situation, which was adopted by a few banks as a cost saving measure during the Depression, and your cataloger has documented only 13 dual office holder situations like this during the 1929-35 era. Assuredly, a note worthy of extra attention and even more so with its full margins, rich inks, and embossing. Gem Crisp Uncirculated.
