Palouse, WA - $5 1929 Ty. 1 The Security NB Ch. # 12184
This Whitman County institution was chartered in 1922. It did not issue currency until after 1929 as it only issued small size notes, complementing the other Palouse bank, which issued only large size notes. A third bank issued notes in the area with the title Palouse City, though survivors from that institution remain unknown. In the last decade four notes have been offered at major auction from this desirable bank, including this piece. With the appearance of a full EF, the margins of a Gem and what appears to be just three folds, we dare say this PCGS Very Fine 30 PPQ may be the finest known from the bank.
