Artesia, CA - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 588 The First NB Ch. # (P)8063A great southern California note which is one of two serial number 1 Red Seals known from this bank, the only issuer in this Los Angeles County community. We have had the pleasure of selling both, the first in 1999 as part of the fabled Charles Colver collection, and this in May of 2003, where, in a considerably less sophisticated market, it fetched over $8000. The Colver specimen (which realized over $15,000) has long been ensconced in one of the great collections of National Bank Notes, leaving this attractive PMG graded example as the sole number 1 likely to be available to collectors for many years. Brightly colored and with appealing pen signatures, this Very Fine 20 serial number 1 Red Seal is certain to delight its fortunate new owner.
