Description

The vignette Franklin and Electricity which appeared on the face of the First and Second charter $10 National Bank Notes, attributed to James Smillie and Alfred Jones by author Gene Hessler, struck directly on card. The vignette is approximately two inches by two and one-fourth inches and bears the engraved title and date 1752 beneath the image. Pencil notations on the card attribute the work to Jones and indicate the currency use of the vignette according to Friedberg designations. Vignette and card display light foxing.
