Description

Woodville, TX- W.S. Caldwell 50¢ Aug. 7, 1862 Medlar 8 PMG Very Good 10 Net.
Oh, if all scrip notes were this easy to attribute. A panel across the left end of this note has the issuer's name and type of business (grocery and provisions) clearly listed. The plain note is printed on blue paper and was redeemable in either goods or currency when presented in sums of $10. PMG records a large tear that has been repaired with tape. This note was picked up in Medlar's 1970 supplemental listing and assigned the catalog number 8. This note is likely unique and is not represented in the SMU DeGolyer Library / Rowe-Barr Collection. Ex. William Bond Collection.
