Printer Typeset Error "Grauson" County

(Sherman), TX- Grauson (Grayson) County $1 Jan. 24, 1863 Medlar UNL PMG Very Good 10.
Grayson has been misspelled as "Grauson" on this note in a comment-free third party holder. The plate note for this issue on page 173 of Texas Obsolete Notes and Scrip by Bob Medlar is a 25¢ note for Grayson County and it has the correct spelling for the county. Furthermore, we looked at the predecessor to Medlar, Texas Confederate County Notes & Private Scrip by Hank Bieciuk and H.G. "Bill" Corbin. In this earlier reference on page 25, a $3 is plated with the correct spelling. Both references only list three denominations, 25¢, $1, and $3. We have also offered a 50¢ note on this issuer in 2003 and it has the correct spelling, too. The only other note of this rare issuer that we have offered is the Bieciuk-Corbin plated $3. Therefore, both us and our consignor believe that the misspelling is confined to the $1 denomination. All denominations listed in Medlar for this county issuer have a rarity rating of R7, one to five known.
