Description
Newark, NJ- Newark Banking & Insurance Co. $3 18__ G68 Wait 1490 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.This early bank opened in 1804 and remained in business until becoming the National Newark Banking Company, charter 1316. This piece features the New Jersey state seal at upper right and Justice with Liberty at lower left. The note is mounted to cardstock with four punch cancels in the signature lines. It is likely that this representative is from a printing made for archival purposes sometime after the 1820s.
