Description
Cahaba, AL- Cahaba Insurance Company 25¢ Sep. 19, 1862 Gunther-Derby AO-128-UNL Rosene 29-UNL PMG Very Fine 20.The company was organized during the course of 1860. The company's last annual statement of condition covering 1861 appeared in January 1862. The exact date of its demise has not yet been established, but the office was apparently sold for taxes in 1870. This scrip note was printed on the backs of the company's certificate of deposit forms and is signed by Jno A. Loder-Secretary. The note was redeemable in "Treasury or current Bank Notes" when presented in sums of $20 or its multiples. PMG mentions a minor repair which provides very little distraction. This denomination is currently unlisted in both state catalogs.
