Bell's Landing, AL- W.P. Leslie & Co. for B.F. Stallworth 10¢ Aug. 30, 1862 UNL PMG Choice Fine 15.This curious note was issued by B(enjamin) F(ranklin) Stallworth but signed by W. Leslie & Co. Leslie was a lawyer who practiced in the area. Bell's Landing is located in Monroe County, about 25 miles north of Monroeville. Only the 50¢ denomination is listed in the Gunther-Derby and Rosene books from this issuer. We have auctioned just a single 50¢ representative from the merchant prior to now. It is possible that this 10¢ is unique. PMG mentions repairs and staining.
