Description

Houston, TX- Consolidated Fund of Texas $1,000 Sep. 1, 1837 Cr. CF6 Medlar 75 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25.
While it has seen time in circulation, this mid-grade Consolidated Fund of Texas $1,000 features sharply printed design details and boldly signed signatures and serial numbers. The word "his" is printed before "heirs" and "legal" on lines two and seven. The controller's signature is that of Francis R. Lubbock. Lubbock would eventually serve as ninth governor of Texas from November 7, 1861, through November 5, 1863. He also joined the Confederate States Army as a lieutenant colonel and would rise through the ranks to eventually be awarded the position of Confederate President Jefferson Davis' aide-de-camp in 1864. We have auctioned just three examples of this variation previously. The usual cut cancels are present, but there are no other meaningful condition impairments.
