Harrisburg, PA- Harrisburg Bank $5 18__ as G34 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The Harrisburg Bank was one of a batch of banks chartered in 1814, with the state being divided in 27 districts, each served by one or more banks which were named in the original legislation. The bank remained in business until succeeded by the Harrisburg National Bank which was chartered on November 21, 1864. The $5 design features a vignette of Justice kneeling by a short column with the Pennsylvania state capitol in the distance. Identical end panels each contain a vignette of a farm girl holding grain and a rake. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with no forms of cancellation present. Four examples of this note appeared as a four subject uncut sheet in Lot 1560 of the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
