Description

Omaha City, NE- Brownville Bank and Land Company $10 Sep. 1, 1857 G6d PMG Very Fine 20.
A fraudulent bank that never applied for a state charter and also did not have a building or office in Omaha City. Each of the bank's denominations were printed with four different tint colors in addition to no tint. This was likely done to keep track of which notes were being placed in circulation in different areas. This particular example appears to have a red-brown tint and features a panoramic vignette of a harvest scene and a second of, perhaps, America seated with a federal shield at lower right.
