Military Endorsement "H. McD. McElrath - Maj. & QM" T41 $100 1862 PF-11 Cr. 319A PMG Extremely Fine 40.This well printed note printed on paper watermarked CSA in large script letters has an endorsement on the back: Issued July 8th 1863 / H. McD. McElrath / Maj. & Chf. P. QM / Dept E Tenn. McElreath relieved Major A.B. Ragan as Chief Pay Quarter Master, Dept. of East Tennessee on February 4, 1863, and was likely subsequently stationed in either Atlanta or Knoxville. We are presently aware of around six or so notes endorsed by McElrath as Chief Pay Quarter Master for the Department of East Tennessee. A small tear was observed by PMG.
