Description

T46 $10 1862 PF-2 Cr. 343 PMG Very Fine 25.
Hoyer & Ludwig was awarded the contract to print this note (as well as some $1s and $2s) due to Memminger's pragmatic assessment that the firm's printing capacity was needed to address the ever-increasing demand for currency even if it publicly refused to follow orders to move its operations to Columbia, SC, when Richmond was threatened in the spring of 1862. Although it was prohibited from incorporating its imprint in the design, Ludwig managed to sneak his name into the edge of the center vignette. The note is well printed and fully framed.
