Description

T23 $10 1861 PF-2 Cr. 154 PMG Choice Fine 15.
The T23 note design was derived from a plate donated by the Farmers & Mechanics Bank of Savannah in 1861. Formerly known as the Mechanics Savings Bank of Savannah, the bank had no need for plates engraved with its former name on them. The basic layout was retained, with the text and title being reworked and an X-TEN-X protector added, replacing the red TEN protector which had been used on the original note. This variety is printed on red fiber paper and has an A1 plate letter combination. The note has seen extensive time in circulation, with the red-orange protector elements badly faded. Nonetheless, the note is still completely intact and is repair- and cancel-free with no meaningful impairments aside from wear.
