Description

Fayetteville, AR- Holcomb & Barnard $2.50 Jan. 17, 1862 Rothert 198-12 PMG Very Fine 20.
This partnership ran a drug store in Fayetteville. The note, which features appropriately enough a vignette of a pharmacist's mortar and pestle, was payable in Confederate Treasury Notes at Barnard's Drug Store when presented (this is misspelled as PRESENPED on the note) in sums of $10, $20, or $50. Barnard has endorsed the note on the back, probably in order to assure that it was legitimately placed in circulation.
