Incredibly Rare Adams & Yager Sutler Scrip

Bentonville, AR- Adams & Yager, Sutlers 25¢ Aug. 1, 1862 Rothert 62-1 Keller AR-SC025 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
Under the leadership of Confederate General Thomas C. Hindman, the 2nd Arkansas Infantry was formed in the Spring of 1861. This infantry saw action at Wilson Creek in August 1861 and later joined with the Army of Central Kentucky. In addition to Wilson Creek, the infantry also assisted in the Chickamauga, Atlanta, and Franklin-Nashville Campaigns, as well as in Kentucky and Tennessee. Their last day of battle would occur on April 26, 1865, during the Carolinas Campaign, when they laid down their arms. Our current offering was emitted from Bentonville, a center for recruitment efforts for this group during 1862. We have auctioned a single representative of this note, which is printed on blue paper, prior to now, with that piece crossing our auction block in January 2020. PCGS comments on backing and major restorations, but this is nonetheless an excessively scarce representative. Collectors will not likely be presented with another opportunity to obtain a note of this design and denomination in the near future.
