Description

Tuskaloosa, AL- City of Tuskaloosa 12-1/2¢-12-1/2¢-12-1/2¢ 18__ Gunther-Derby AO-452-$.125b- AO-452-$.125c- AO-452-$.125a Uncut Sheet PCGS Banknote Choice Very Fine 35.
The city of Tuskaloosa had a series of fractional notes prepared for issue during the Panic of 1837 when coins disappeared from circulation. Although there is no imprint, these appear to be stock design notes printed by Manly & Orr of Philadelphia based on the layouts and vignettes used. The notes were payable in notes of the Bank of the State of Alabama. The sheet, which comprises three different design 12-1/2¢ notes, is well printed with nice margins and is repair-free with no meaningful impairments noted. This is the only uncut sheet we have offered from this issuer.
