Scott's Nine Hundred United States Cavalry, NY- J.R. Bostwick, Sutler 5¢; 10¢ ND Keller NY-SI005; NY-SI010 Crisp Uncirculated.
The "Scotts Nine Hundred" name was the unofficial designation for the 11th Regiment Cavalry, New York Volunteers which served primarily in Virginia, Maryland, and Louisiana. While suffering a relatively low number of battle casualties, disease and the foundering of the steamer North America off the coast of Florida in December, 1864 accounted for most of the unit's casualties.
