Holly Springs, MS- (McEwen, King & Co.) Exchange Office $20 Post Note 18__ Kraus 14572r Remainder PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ.While all notes from this series are known only as remainders, it is very likely that the firm of McEwen, King & Co. was the issuer. This firm was formed in 1837 and had "blown up" during the course of 1839-40. This note, printed in vibrant blue ink with "Holly Springs" spelled correctly, has survived because a modern day collector or dealer decided to cut a sheet of later Civil War era Louisiana state notes that had been printed on an uncut sheet of these earlier Mississippi notes so that the Louisiana notes were sacrificed in order to provide a complete $20.
