Description

New York, NY - $1 1875 Fr. 384 The Continental National Bank Ch. # 1389 PCGS Very Fine 35.
A powerhouse bank of the era that issued all denominations of the $1-$1,000 before liquidating on May 25, 1901. Charter number 1389 started to have their bank officer signatures printed by either an inside or outside printer. (It is known that some huge banks had their own print shops to print the myriad of forms needed.) Bold printed signatures are of Acting Cashier A(lfred) H. Timpson and President Edmund D. Randolph. "Actg" is printed before "Cashr." The ace in this lot is a nice example for the grade even with a small penned "244" in the back right margin. We had another Fr. 384 on this bank graded PMG VF 35 realize $2,280 in May 2022.
