Austin, TX- Republic of Texas $50 July 18, 1839 Cr. A7 Medlar 27 PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ.This lovely Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson production showcases an original vignette created by Freeman Rawdon, the depiction of Venus Rising from the Foam, at left, a sailing vessel at center, and a portrait of Stephen Austin at right, after whom the city of Austin is named. The note in this lot has achieved PMG's EPQ designation for completely original paper surfaces and bold color. PMG mentions cut cancels which are found almost universally on Republic of Texas notes.
