Description

Big Springs, TX - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 624 The West Texas National Bank Ch. # (S)6668 PMG Fine 12.
The note in this lot is one of just seven large reported from this Howard County bank, according to Track & Price. The last $10 Plain Back from this institution to cross our auction block was a PCGS Banknote VF 25 example which realized $1,320 in May 2022. PMG indicates the presence of minor repairs and ink which are hardly discernable through the third party holder. The PMG label has "Big Springs" misspelled as "Big Spring" for this charter number. The town was called "Big Springs" until about 1916 when the final "s" was dropped and the town's name became "Big Spring."
