Occasionally banks had need for only some of the denominations appearing on a plate as was apparently the case with the two uncut sheets in this lot. In these instances, the bank note company would simply ink a portion of the plate and print the desired notes on a smaller sheet of paper. The same approach was taken for the Bank of Windsor, with only the top portion of a four subject plate inked and used to print the two $1 notes from the plate. Interestingly, the impressions of three screw heads can be seen in the top margin. These screws would have been used to secure the plate in the press. (Total: 2 items)
