Description

T37 $5 1861 PF-1 Cr. 284 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
Blanton Duncan printed this mundane quality lithographed note. A sailor at the shore with bales is at top center, Memminger at lower left. Justice is at the right end with a crouching woman who holds a "5" counter. Plate B. This T-37 note possesses that awesome combination of high technical grade and aesthetic beauty which pleases all five senses and even a couple of which we are not yet aware. Fully framed, which is an unusual quality shown on lightly circulated examples such as this. PMG notes "Minor Restoration," which appears merely to be a filled paper thin above the "C" in "Confederate." Of close to 300 T-37 notes that we have sold, a mere dozen grade better than Very Fine. A great note destined to prove our estimate laughable.
