Description
Bank of Abyssinia 100 Thalers Color Trial Specimen Rarity
Ethiopia Bank of Abyssinia 100 Thalers ND (1915-1929) Pick
4cts1; 4cts2 Front and Back Color Trial Specimens PMG Choice
Uncirculated 64 (2).A handsome and very rare denomination as a Color Trial Specimen, especially as created for the Bank of Abyssinia. This stunning, large format type is especially desirable in two uniface pieces, which allows for optimal viewing of all design elements. Although both pieces were previously mounted, the overall eye appeal is still excellent. Only the second we have offered, and assuredly missing from many collections of Africa. Bank of Abyssinia issued banknotes and Specimens were withdrawn and discarded when the Bank of Ethiopia opened for business in 1932. PMG notes that both the face and back impressions have been previously mounted and that the face impression has "as-made" paper wrinkles and has a foreign substance present.
