Government Credit Note 500 Rubles - Steel Printing Plate

Russia Government Credit Note 500 Rubles 1918 Pick 41 Face Printing Plate
The 500 Ruble steel printing plate offered here is part of an incredible set of plates offered here today. At center is the perfectly engraved vignette of a woman seated and flanked by two cherubs. Printed in full color, this denomination ranks as one of the most aesthetic notes ever printed and issued in Russia.

While issued examples of the 100 Ruble denomination are offered from time to time and are relatively affordable, offerings of the 500 and 1000 Ruble denominations are elusive. Even though Proofs and Specimens were printed, they remain unpriced in the the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money. Specimens are more frequently seen than the Proofs, but still quite elusive and very popular when presented at auction. The condition is excellent, perfectly matching the other plates offered. The polished steel is nearly impeccable with just a hint of toning noted.
