Description

Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency 10 Riyals ND (1953) / AH1372 Pick 1 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
Saudi Arabia's first banknote was a Haj Pilgrim Receipt, printed by Thomas de la Rue in 1953 and issued for travelers to Saudi Arabia for their visit to Mecca. Despite the official use of this note, it soon became used in general transactions, and the print run was quickly exhausted. Three new Pilgrim Receipts were issued the following year, and in 1961, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency issued a complete series of notes. This offered example is in terrific condition for the type which is generally rare in anything close to this grade.
