Description
Fr. 222 $1 1891 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 20.This is the much scarcer Rosecrans-Nebeker signature combination. The design on the back was changed to this open version in an attempt to hinder counterfeiters. Fewer of these open back notes survived and it is believed that the simple design led fewer people to save these 1891 issues. The Martha Washington engraving is based on a portrait by Jalabert. Some pinholes are noticed.
