Seldom seen and assuredly not easy to obtain, this uniface, gigantic denomination harkens back to the days of the old white notes issued by the Bank of England until the late 1950s. This bond was issued on the same day as the 10,000,000 bond also issued here in this auction. Prior to September 2008, the bonds were issued to bearers, and the individual banks sent couriers to pick them up each week.
