Description

Ultra High Denomination Issued Rarity from Mombasa

East Africa East African Currency Board 1000 Shillings = 50 Pounds 15.12.1921 Pick 18 PMG Very Fine 30.
East Africa's 1921 series of notes issued via Mombasa feature seven denominations. The four highest denominations all represented serious money in the colonies of East Africa, with this note being the second highest of the series. During its time in circulation, 50 Pounds / 1000 Shillings was an incredible sum and a note that would not have been used for daily transactions. At the time of cataloging, PMG has graded a mere eight examples of this rarely seen type. Fully issued and with average circulation present. Pinholes and a numerical notation are mentioned for accuracy.
