Burundi Banque du Royaume du Burundi 500 Francs 15.5.1961 (ND 1964) Pick 6 PMG Choice About Unc 58.Second highest denomination of the initial series of banknotes for Burundi. Unused stock of Rwanda-Burundi were repurposed for use in different ways in newly independent Burundi and Rwanda until new banknote series were printed and delivered. An unmistakable "BURUNDI" overprint was horizontally applied to the front side of this popular design. Only the briefest trace of circulation is present on this handsome example. A very rare type, especially in the good grades, and a popular post-colonial type.
