Description
Fr. 16a $1 1862 Legal Tender PCGS Choice New 63.Wonderfully bright, including the often faded seal. With a little bit more margin at the bottom left and top right this note would have likely garnered a Full Gem grade. Very pleasing overall. Friedberg 16a is one of the rarer numbers of the early Legals. Track and Price reports sixty-four known, but it is quite likely that many of those are not 16a's. PCGS has seen only eighteen examples. Last September we sold a 64 no P for $3,525, and we would expect this to do a bit better.
