Fully Issued Penang Rarity

Straits Settlements Chartered Mercantile Bank of India, London and China, Penang 10 Dollars 2.12.1887 Pick S132a KNB8b-c PMG Very Fine 20 Net.
A fantastic and extremely rare Straits Settlements issue of the 19th-century. Penang and its capital George Town was the first city of the Straits Settlements, founded in 1787 by Sir Francis Light under the auspices of the East India Company, Calcutta. Impressive eye appeal is seen on this fully issued banknote. The manuscript signatures remain visible despite the century plus that has passed. Repairs, pinholes, and rust are mentioned for accuracy. PMG has graded a mere two examples of this denomination for Penang at the time of cataloging. A classic rarity that we have not offered in the past and may not see again in the future.

PMG Very Fine 20 Net。
